Weekend Meet Previews
(Scores from Troester)
This is just a whirlwind compilation of all that will be happening this weekend.
SCSU at YALE Feb 21st, 1pm Yale-New Haven, CT
The intracity foes will meet on the Yale side of town for a dual meet with a lot of implications. SCSU is continuing to build up the scoring as they work with their new lineup of veterans and newcomers. Bridgeport is setting the pace in the ECAC Division 2, and SCSU will have to keep working to catchup in time for Championships. For Yale, the Bulldogs are battling injuries and sickness, which has even managed to prevent them fielding a full lineup on some events, but their core continues to compete and to score. The individual competitions as well as the all around will be an interesting set of matchups. (SCSU Routines List) (Yale Routines List)

UNH AT MARYLAND Feb 20th, 6pm EST College Park, MD
A great EAGL matchup will take place down in College Park when the Wildcats travel down from New Hampshire to take on the Terps! If the scores are any indication this is going to be a fairly even contest, and while the wins and losses only matter for pride, the scores matter in terms of regional rankings and in terms of setting themselves up for the post season. And those who don’t even follow the scores will just see a great meet. (UNH Routines List)

UNH AT PENN STATE W/BRIDGEPORT AND RUTGERS Feb 21st, 7pm State College, PA
New Hampshire as a reward for heading down to Maryland gets to head up to Penn State the very next day to take on the 17th ranked team in the country. It should be a highly competitive meet between two regional powerhouses, both of which will be trying to lay the groundwork for trips to regionals and possibly beyond. It doesn’t get much bigger than this in the Northeast Region these days. Rutgers is in town as well looking to build up the scoring and put things together, and Division 2 Bridgeport is likely more than happy to give a run at Rutgers to try for another victory over a D1 team. The two closest teams to New York, both Knights, Bridgeport Purple, Rutgers Scarlet will meet in what should also be a close contest, so there’s a lot going on. (UNH Routines List) (Bridgeport Routines List) (Rutgers Routines List) The bottom line no matter what the score is that there will be a lot of exciting gymnastics.

BROWN at OKLAHOMA W/MIZZOU and WEST VIRGINIA Feb 20th, 7pm EST Norman, OK
I’m not breaking this down team by team as I don’t feel I can add much to it. I’m already currently stretched very thin coverage wise so my focus will be trying to add more detail to my coverage of the northeast teams. The more I talk about the teams outside the region, especially when I have almost no information to go on other than scores, the less I am doing that. Brown’s scoring compares more to teams in the region anyway. (Brown Routines List)

MIT Feb 21st, 1pm EST Cambridge, MA
MIT will be at home this weekend and looks to keep the scoring success going from the week before when they set season highs. Julia Zimmerman and Leanna Morinishi may own the top scores for the team this season, but the total scoring is going to come about through the contributions of their numerous veterans and newcomers. A lot came together scoringwise last week. (MIT Routines List)
